Business and trade in Albrighton

The Albrighton Traders' CommitteeDuring January 2006, Patrick Richards of P Richards Butchers and Richard Blincoe of Brian Richards Fine Menswear were approached by Advantage West Midlands with a view to their organising support from local business to help back the Let’s Fly Cosford Campaign at local level. (The campaign to secure a national defence training contract to RAF Cosford).

Patrick and Richard could see no other way to do this other than to revitalise the former Albrighton Traders’ Association which had been disbanded some years ago. This was achieved, by name only and purely in support of the Cosford campaign. Thirty nine businesses pledged their support to the campaign and joined the Association. An active group was formed - Patrick Richards, Richard Blincoe, Abby Blincoe, Lee Chatburn, Don Hickman, Gaynor Richards and Gerald Leach.

Various successful activities were organised by the group to promote the awareness of the Let’s Fly Cosford Campaign at local level.

By September 2006 the group agreed it had achieved all it had set out to undertake at local level and in any event the campaign had moved into the political arena.

It was at this stage that all members of the group agreed that the Albrighton Traders’ Association should continue, the advantages of doing so were clear. Accordingly a formal meeting of the Association was held on Monday 16 October 2006 at The Red House in Albrighton and the following officers were designated to serve until re-election.

  • Patrick Richards Chairman
  • Lee Chatburn Vice-Chairman
  • Gaynor Richards Secretary
  • Richard Blincoe Treasurer
  • Warwick Fletcher PR Officer

The other members of the committee are Don Hickman and Abby Blincoe, who both actively support all of the above officers.

The Albrighton Traders’ Association has the following mission statement:
“to promote and encourage local business”. For additional information including the aims and objectives of the Association, please refer to the Association’s Constitution.
